Active Media Explorer

The Active Media Explorer (AME) is a new module in the Active Circle suite. Designed for content such as images, video, or other rich-media files, the AME offers a user-friendly interface for exploring the content stored and archived in Active Circle.

Based on a web interface, it allows users to search, play low-resolution versions of the files, select and restore. It addresses the issues involved with accessing content within a very large storage or archive system by making it easy to find and retrieve content. It eliminates the typical scenario of restoring the wrong file and trying again and again.

A Web Interface to Explore the Archives

Active Media Explorer is based on the most standard technologies and open components such as PHP and MySQL. It is compatible with most of the browser available on the market.

Indexing the Content

Active Media Explorer adds technical and customer metadata to the archives, enabling faster search and retrieval of content. Metadata is edited on upload or later, and can be enhanced with custom fields.

Integrated with Active Circle

Active Media Explorer is fully integrated with Active Circle and provides a clear view of where the content is located: online, near-line in a tape library or offline. The user can select the content based on availability in terms of restore time.

Simple and Advanced Search

Active Media Explorer offers simple and advanced search throughout the content. All the metadata fields can be searched using multiple criteria. Users can search for content by keyword, date, author and any other defined field.

Viewing the Content

Active Media Explorer generates H264 proxies for browsing and viewing without retrieving the content from LTO tape. The proxies are stored on disk for faster access. No more retrieving the wrong media!

Select and Retrieve

The search result can be defined as a selection. A selection is a set of media (a basket) that can be delivered to users by sending it to a predefined network target for editing or playout. Selections can be defined as private or be published to other users.
