Storage and protection of CAD/CAM and other production data

Hutchinson is world leader in rubber products on each of its markets: transportation and consumer products and is part of the Chemical Branch of the TOTAL Group.

The Project
For its R&D center located in Chalette sur Loing in France, Hutchinson was looking for a storage system able to host its CAD/CAM data, the source code of internal developments and other technical data. The main requirements were scalability and security.

The choice
Storing data turned out to be difficult in this context and an initial study on traditional NAS solutions revealed that deployment would be complex and costly. After looking at several solutions, Hutchinson opted for the Active Circle storage cluster. This solution is based on the concept of Clustered Storage and was selected because of its ease of use and compatibility with standard hardware (SATA disks, tapes, etc.) in order to reduce storage TCO.
