Active Circle announces Version 4.0
Jouy en Josas, Sep. 9, 2011 – Active Circle announces version 4.0 of its storage and archive management software with major improvements for scalability towards very large data volumes, and new features to accelerate search and retrieve of digital content.
Active Storage Manager
The Active Storage Manager (ASM) is a new technology designed to dynamically allocate distributed storage resources. It improves efficiency and scalability in HSM environments with large libraries or disk arrays. By dynamically allocating storage resources, Active Circle 4.0 stores and archives Petabytes of data with an unprecedented level of availability and protection leveraging the available storage resources.
Active Media Explorer
The Active Media Explorer (AME) is a new module in the Active Circle suite. Designed for content such as images, video, or other rich-media files, the AME offers a user-friendly interface for exploring the content stored and archived in Active Circle.

Based on a web interface, it allows users to search, play low-resolution versions of the files, select and restore. It addresses the issues involved with accessing content within a very large storage or archive system by making it easy to find and retrieve content. It eliminates the typical scenario of restoring the wrong file and trying again and again.
“Active Circle 4.0 is a major step towards the completion of our vision of what Active Archiving should be: to store and archive large volumes of data in a secure and accessible way, while remaining independent from the storage technology or the storage architecture. With Active Circle 4.0, we reduce the dependency on the hardware while easing up access to the content” – Philippe Motet, Active Circle CTO.
